Shaking Out The Snow

On her album Clock Without Hands, Nanci Griffith sings a song called "Shaking Out the Snow," in which she talks about the kind of cold that you just can't shake. There's something, maybe about the remoteness of where we are, that makes it feel even colder than the 10 degrees it was outside on this day. It wasn't even snowing anymore, but it might as well have been: the winds were blowing snow from the ground at 50 mph. Snow drifts were high around the buildings, and that evening, Jim had to go digging to find his compressor. The other shot is of the False Pass School. Perilous.
