Saturday Morning Canine
Jim performed 12 extractions in this village yesterday alone. The word that a dentist was in town spread to Trident, so it seems every fisherman in Akutan called or stopped by. Additionally, this morning, Jim extracted the upper right molar of Jesse, a village Yorkie. He was an excellent patient, and after administration of a small-dog sized dose of local anesthetic, Jim yanked the tooth out with ease. On the way out the door, he instructed the dog, "No smoking, no spitting forcefully, and no sucking through a straw. Keep biting pressure on the gauze for thirty minutes and use warm salt water rinses starting tomorrow." Jesse agreed to comply and trotted home drowsily for a popsicle and a nap.
