And Don't Count On A Pillow Mint, Either
We failed to mention in our earlier post about the Bering Inn, that the nightly rate here is $200--in all seriousness (supply and demand, they say). The day before we were leaving Nelson Lagoon, we got all of our trash together and attempted to drive out towards the dump, but a mound of snow stood in our way halfway there, and as we were blocked in on both sides by deep snow drifts, we had to reverse all the way back to town until we could turn around. We decided to just keep our trash in our room until we could try again another day. Later, it occurred to us that a night at the Ritz-Carlton in Naples would be $21 less expensive than a night here. Of course, we would miss out on getting to use the same towel six days in a row, providing our own toilet paper, and wearing flip-flops in the shower, but at least at the Ritz we could take our trash out right behind the building (and not have to worry about snow barricades on the way to the dump). Shoot, at the Ritz, they might even empty it for us.
